Stanley Smith died from wounds on 8th October, 1916, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 16th Royal Welsh Fusiliers battalion was part of 113 Brigade, 38th Division, that had been withdrawn from the Somme after being nearly destroyed at Mametz Wood in July, 1916 and transferred north to hold the line around Ypres |
